Moses Man: Finding Home
This musical tells the true story of Holocaust survivors Lily and Kalman Haber, who fled Vienna, Austria during Hitler’s annexation and their perilous nine-year journey of displacement through Europe, Cyprus, Palestine, and Africa to find home and freedom in Rochester, NY. The musical made its NYC premiere at New York Musical Festival (NYMF) at the Signature Theatre in 2015. At the conclusion of its run, Germany opened their border to Syrian refugees and the Moses Man team took a hard look at the musical’s storyline and its relationship to current journeys of refugees, and the rising of antisemitism. The responsibility to link past and present, clearly presenting historical facts with a clear lens has become even more essential today.
